Daft Punk primarily does a style of EDM (electronic dance music) known as "house music." It's a bit different from techno and trance and the others, as sometimes the sounds are a lot less "synthy" and a lot more "natural" (like, instead of a drum machine sample, they use a real snare sample or whatever). More importantly though, house music is the offspring of disco and funk. :3
