What are they?

Some may think you are a noob from not understanding torrents. Others will expect you to understand all l33t terminology. I personally can read l33t and understand enough of it, but neither do I use it (more than 3% of the time) nor do I have any of it really memorized.

Now, what defines the average user, secondly what would define their problems?

I personally believe someone that involves themselves with a field they knows nothing about yet demands the same respect or acknowledgment as their peers. Or, someone who asks simple questions without ever trying for themselves, more so to people who don't even fucking know them. This would be the noob, but does that make them an average users? I think it would most likely depend on the individual, and how savvy they are/aren't.

What would their problems be caused from? Most likely in concurrence with the above, some people refuse to look for answers themselves, and completely disregard all that a computer is. I believe more extensive classes should be required (you can't drive without "knowing how" >_<), not just 'keyboarding". Typing isn't the issue for most cases, it's knowing how to use the computer, if you can't do that then.. These would be the people thinking their computer is 'insufficient', broken, or they look for answers in everywhere but the right place.

-Side note, You'd think some if not most computer would have some sort of manual...no. They don't actually. In actuality, you get a pikchure sheet oh what the buzzers and whistles are. There sometimes may be a booklet, that merely explains how to turn it on, and how to reset the computer. Maybe there should be a full tutorial that's mandatory before starting the computer. There should DEFINITELY be a Windows Dictionary on every beginners computer, so they know what to do and not to do.

Now back on topic, classes should be mandatory, maybe they should even freely be offered.

In semi-restrospect, How does this affect the internet community? Think, if there are ( and there ARE! ) more noobs or average users than savvy users, maybe not technology, and maybe not production slows. Surely something is affected by this dumbing process, it is easily shown where the noobs are. Youtube is one. Another type are those that use the computer for Myspace, and Myspace only. Seriously, the internet has now become the replacement for something as simple as a phone "Hello DEE DEE" "Oh Hay NAY NAY" Is not plausible in today's society.

Instead you will see a myriad of "I r u luvr" and "h8 m3 N G1t sh0t" Really, what is this? I ask what has become of todays people. I'm not talking about only the foolish adolescents, no. People that would work for or with you use this...yet still imagine themselves a....I'll end that portion of the rant.

So, lets skip the pleasantries. There are plenty of issues with people having computer problems. Lest they resolve from actually reading and quandering through ONES OWN MEANS. However, there are plenty of people that refuse or are neglected such priveleges. It's safe to say that lack of training and understanding lead to the mass problems found into the internet community, mixed with plenty other aspects of computers in general.

/rant.

@Hellspire: I had the same problem with Clear Sky, but I had the good initiative too look at the comments section of mininova where I got the torrent from ant see if other ppl had the same problem. And they did, so the guy who made the tor posted a .bat file that helped run the game... (:])
GL with the PC course btw... xD

@Sith: Average user ? If u take the statistics, the average user IS THE NOOB... there are so many ppl with a PC out there that barely know how to turn it on... it's a pain really... that's why ppl like us who are a bit more advanced (we don't hit our PC when it bugs or jump to conclusions like OMG OMG a virus a VIRUS !!!) or even done some programming can be considered as advanced or even expert/pro. And ofc ppl who are pro programmers, technicians and hackers fall under the godlike class... That's how I see the net anyway... (tense)
But in reality there isn't such a big gap between the classes... just a bit of effort is needed to increase ones rank... its the lack of motivation that is the cause of it all... -_-

Wow you really went off after hearing what I said before....

Here's a good example.. I couldn't get a few games to work.. Stalker: Clear Sky, Mirror's Edge, Sacred 2, and Wanted: Weapons of Fate. I looked online, and it suggested everything from bad ram, to bad setups, to just plain idiocy. Then among the millions of comments a friend and I found the answer.. "it seems like an issue with openal.. so create a shortcut and add argument -skipopenal" and bingo everything worked.

EVERYTHING. I think honestly people are just plain stupid. Back in the day, there were a lot more issues with cross cpu (intel, amd), os (vista, xp, mac), gpus, etc.. and so they just basically assume that those are the issues. Sure my openal issue is related to my amd setup, but do I really need to be told by 50 million people to go get an nvidia just so i can feel better without having to get my hands dirty? Hell no.. the average user should just learn...

BTW, the mandatory class thing made me laugh. I think they are requiring me to take a non-lab computer course to graduate (next semester). So I'll get to learn about I/O devices (keyboard, mouse, etc). Is that what you meant... screw you I sayz. I should just have to take a quick test so I can ace it and get the credit. Stupid, stupid, stupid. (my alternative is astrology)

For classes I think people should just get a full tutorial of windows, how to alttab or windowskeytab, what defragmenting does, how format, all the things that aren't really taught in computer class, which is stupid. They teach you a program here, and a program there, and how to type, but they don't forcefully teach how to use the computer? I remember what my 5thgr Computer teacher told me, the extent of his knowledge after we exited word "and be sure to click start>shut down. When it prompts" I'm stopping there. People don't learn how to turn on their car, and parallel park only...

I didn't mean average that way, I meant it as "Average Joe" Not the recurring amount of Noobz =/

But Yea, I definitely agree there, they don't CARE. As long as they can go about their measily lives talking to their friends on myspace, WHO ALL LIVE LIKE TWO FOOTSTEPS AWAY FROM THEM, they have no problem buying shit computers blindly, and asking stupid questions of the rest of us.... >_<

That's why ppl like me who go to engineering school for informatics will always have work... if the user is stupid then he's easily manipulatable... (lol)
I'm jk right now but theoretically and practically it's true... Microsoft for example, selling stupid incomplete vista by brainwashing the users with nice graphics. They also don't give u the choice any more when u buy a new PC its either buggy Vista or soon updateless and DirectX 10 deprived XP... man I miss my XP... :/
