Like the title of this thread says
I have always been thinking...
Society.... a world full of laws that restrict every human life...
Isit possible that these laws are restricting humans from evolving further on?

lol...yes....speed limit laws have prevented me from evolving into a cheetah....
I like the idea of this thread, being a biology nerd...but i think you might want to place some parameters on this debate ereos, because if you check on the religion thread there are some on this forum that have made great arguments against evolution, so that changes this game...
-when are you thinking was the last time we as a race evolved?
-is it a prerequisite to post in this thread that you must accept evolution as a valid explanation for biodiversity
-are we talking about dawinian evolution over "geologic time" or Zinn's addition of pockets of rapid evolution on humanities construct of time(lifespan, decades, century etc)?
-are we taking about laws like established by governments and going back to hammurabi? or human status quo of behavior
-what about other effects on evolution, globalization, technology, changing ecosystems, pollution etc. are those valid for discussion?

Hahahaha
When people are too busy considering
Religion, their fashion statement, arguing over abortion, losing their jobs, being shot at school, what ipod color to choose (which goes hand in hand with.....) how to replace their new computer, if the egg came before the chicken, rapping about who da hardist muddafuka iz, being bigots, being racists, or just being assholes.
I think there is a lot that stints growth as humans. Not to suggest there aren't MAJOR advancements, but the majority of people are still vein and need, and could not be separated from their naive views and posh belongings :P

OMG I CANT BREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATH!!!!!!Lol I died laughing.
About the subject now,
Intresting noticing Ereos.
I think the people that rule the world and we dont know,
Underground people :/ , have something in mind.
Rules are being created everyday but take a good look at the evolution, everyday something new pops new: cars, cars, something else, cars again.
The truth that i havent thought about the evolurion but i am really angry with the rules .
The world is crazy man,i dont get what the hell is going on.
They take our freedom every day that passes.

Well focusing on how the laws keep us behind
Laws that in society we should follow...
although Religion can take place in this argument because some laws are also supported by religion though that might be wrong though i believe so...
on the other hand others can say technology can stunt our human growth
As far as i am concern we can list a number of points relating to society, rules...etc stunted evolution for humans
Due to Government laws i believe it prevents humans from evolving restricting us from using our initiative and our instincts. As many usually say in a battle "survival of the fittest" and looking at research of evolution it is usually the survival of the fittest usually evolve to something that can adapt to these problems, so with these rules how are we going to evolve...

Well i think that our physical body will cease to evolve. mainly because we are changing the environment to suit our needs, so we won't really evolve to suit our environment.
But i read this thing about people being able to live longer in the future. Maybe you people would want to look into that.

well arguments against....
would be one main factor
"TECHNOLOGY"
like Saurab said... we are increasing our intellectual needs for making our lives easier
technology is literally doing everything for us and what most of all important is that its also destroying the envroment
such as DAM's, pollution which is causing the green house effect....etc
we even use weapons to kill....
some may have broaden their instincts with weapons but it will never help one evolve...because that weapon is not a part of you....
dont say no blweach shit i will become one with my sword like baishin w/e his scrub name is
sure like lookinjg at that evolution stage how man came to be we were once monkeys
it could say evolving would make us less weaker... though that not a reliable evidence because no-one lived that long to see it all happen sire we got some similar features but doesnt make us like that

I actually believe that the smart people in the future will be smarter than the smart people now. I don't really have much reasons why i think that lol. Something to do with psychologists hoarding more info about brains, so we teach the next gen using better methods or some jazz, and it is easier than ever to spread information.
From my point of view things just evolve so that they can live longer in the environment they are in, so I'm not sure if evolution will always make a species "stronger" or "weaker".

Does society stunt human evolution?
I say no, because there is no human evolution. If we evolved, we wouldn't be humans. If we do evolve, it's random.
If you mean, "Does society stunt our intellectual growth?" that's another story.

It depends upon the society. If taken as a global whole then no, it does not. The massive exchange of ideas advances our current state of existence at such a rapid pace that any ignorance fueled setbacks are completely overshadowed. As for physical evolution, I'll leave that to the other debate. Also, lurk lurk lurk....

what do you mean by human evolution? is it the genetic changes that occur throughout the passing of time? is it a sociological development? is it an ability to develop homeostasis with our surroundings and not ourselves?
