Taken from Wiki:
The game is set in New York City as a virus infects people and the military attempts to put an end to it. The protagonist of the story is named Alex Mercer, who has enemy-absorbing and shapeshifting powers. He can take memories, experiences, biomass and physical forms of the enemies through absorption. Alex can also shapeshift into more specialized forms for attack, defense or sensory enhancement. All of these together are intended to give players multiple ways to complete their objectives. Parallel to the game's storyline is the ability to play the game as a sandbox-style video game giving the player free roam of Manhattan.

I have been playing this game for the past week and it definitely needs a review to highlight how awesome it is (:])

Story: Fair
Just by watching the trailer, most would assume that some guy with an attitude gets infected by a virus gaining special ability hence is being chased by military. Surprisingly there's more to it than meet the eye, the overall plot is interesting especially with the conspiracy revolving around the main char and the setting however the execution of it isn't really great.

Gameplay: Decent
Now here's what I definitely enjoyed about this game. It has a GTA feel to it like most sandbox games now do. However take the formula GTA + Anti-Hero+ Superpower= EPIC. You are Alex Mercer, a person who has no qualms consuming/eliminating others who stand in your way which makes this game quite different from other sandbox games.

The tall buildings in this game definitely are justified for having them, try sprinting up a building and you will realise how epic it feels (:]). The combat in this game is pretty good. You get a variety of powers and upgrades which you can chain to create a destructive combo.

Sidequests are mindless fun however they can get repetitive and tiring after awhile this also applies to the mindless destruction you are able to do.

The main mission are definitely fun to do, since it also involves putting pieces of the memories u gain from consuming people to use.

Graphic: Average
For a game to be released now, I would have expected it to be quite up to date. However the framerates for this game suffers especially the Xbox360 version. The characters/models for the game looks pretty bland and lack realism to me. Even with a high end card like Radeon HD 4850 don't expect too much from this game as even playing on the highest resolution isn't top notch.

Controls: Great
The controls for this game is simply summarized in 1 word....EASY. It's really easy to get used to even if you are using the keyboard and the mouse unlike most console game which suffers from lousy control configuration, Activision did a fantastic job of configuring the PC version. If you have a gamepad, you will find it even easier to adapt to.

Overall Verdict: Decent 7/10
I would really like to give this game a better score however the flaws of the game doesn't convince me it deserves a higher score. It however does set a milestone on how sandbox games should be done in terms of the combat.

It's a pretty decent game, I'm actually pleased with it since it managed to provide me with a week's worth of entertainment unlike some games which takes me 2-3days to complete and shove it back in the shelf when it becomes its new home (shame)

I hope the sales for this game is good enough to convince Activision to create a sequel.

It's been out for a bit now so I'd recommend you just find a nice, cheap pre-owned version.

The annoying things I found about this game were the odd steep bits of difficulty, and this was just playing it on normal mode. At the beginning you don't have much in strength or abilities and you get your ass handed to you pretty quick if you don't figure out that your just suppose to lay low and run. I actually almost died right at the beginning, after you leave the hosptial, as soon as I was handed control over Mercer lol.

The next annoying thing were the warehouses, having a restricting small area to fight in with this sort of game is a bad idea. To tie onto that the difficulty of the mutant beast things, whatever they're called, when you're first set to fight them starts in one of those warehouses. You fight 1, then 2 (I died a couple of times here), little did I know I'd have to fight 4 THEN 8!! Jesus! Sure the controls were good once you the hang of it, doing all building climbing crazyness like a badass, but inside these warehouses these open environment controls go down the shitter.

Besides those big points I made, the missions would of been a bit same-y and repetitive but then again bludgeoning the shit out of everyone was the main focus and delight of the game so I can't complain about that really.

I suppose what drives you in the game, besides the little bit of mystery that drives the plot, is the urge the power up. Which pays off quite nicely. Though I never did find a practical use for the most expensive super-wtfomg-skydive-stomp manoeuvre besides on innocent civilians (lol)

Also it's great anger management too

Oh what's that world? Sneer and mock my opinions WILL YOU?!? WELL--
