It's believed that flavored cigarettes entice young people to smoke. "Every day, 3,600 children and teens start smoking and 1,100 become daily smokers, studies show."

Do you think the ban is a good or bad thing?

I believe its a good thing, promoting original flavor. You see all these soft drinks going on about adding vanilla, berries, and special 'exotic' flavor titles all in one drink, candies breaching the barrier by making chocolate a flavor instead of a type of candy, and ice creams consisting of all these things.

But now I see this, the F.D.A. being old school, and wanting good ol' original flavor only. Now I know, seeing 10% real fruit juice on a fag in the first place is only mildly enticing, but seeing chocolate and vanilla is too charming for the young-un, spoiling em I say. The only ones taking a real loss are those that are allergic to nicotine flavored, and not chocolate, smoke. I feel bad for them, their only alternative is setting their chocolate filled children ablaze and whiffing in all the fumes.

Now on the other hand, while I believe this ban does have merit of some sort, it's not stopping ads promoting cigarettes altogether, nor is it banning them altogether.

I would also like to point out that it's unfair to the pharmaceuticals. I haven't heard the Flintstones vitamins being taken off shelves yet, all the while tempting young jimmy to eat the whole bottle instead of just one. We've all had one...and then another...It doesn't end with just one.

I think the ban is a good thing however. It'll cause conflict between marketing and law, which as we all know, is a show in the making. I would like to know where 1,100 more different children a day get the money to buy these expensive things though, and a timeline showing how long it takes for toddlers to be included in the statistics.

Prohibition of anything is super reactionary and rarely ends up working, whether good or bad...Chemical control laws for all types of drugs can be succesful, but there are so many ways around them...Meth is a good example in ephedrine and then sudoephedrine..
