I have known this for quite some time, let me lay it out for you:
First there was TV with actors, then there was Porn.
Second there was Cartoons to simulate TV w/ actors things that could not be done in real life, and generally expanded to encompass a lot of other things.
Third, Cartoon Porn as a way to satisfy perverts.
Four, Manga and Anime to simulate the same as cartoons, then erotic doujinishi (I believe that word means roughly 'manga' but it could mean erotic manga. Please correct me if 'erotic doujinishi' is redudant due to the meaning).
Five, Hentai to the same extent as Cartoon Porn.
Is this a recurring pattern? To be honest with everyone here, erotic doujinishi can be cool as a suppliment but not for the real thing.... and both porn and doujinishi have their extremes so bear with me. Is erotism in all aspects of the entertainment industry a naturally occuring scenario that satisfies the human imagination? Let's hear your views!

well, one: i think that all drawn porn is stupid. who wants to see ink get it on? but regular porn is a natural industry. the human pysche has 5 main functions: eat, drink, sleep, reproduce, and survive. we stimulate the reproduce part of our psyche by triggering primal instincts that make us want to see/do it. for people that cannot do the act of reproduction (sex), this stimulates them mentally instead of physcially. of course, there is a way to simulate yourself physically....but lets not get into that. so in other words: sex sells.

Not so much as sell, but let us consider whether or not when we look at a human and say okay let's make an industry where people who need stimulation can watch it rather than partake; then you look at animation and you say to yourself, what's the difference? We can just as easily create a porn industry for cartoons that would do the same thing. Anime is just a kind of cartoon to be sure, however they are seperated in this argument soley because of the main features that divide the two.

anime porn is more cost-effective. why hire actors when all u need is like 3 talented artists? even more so, it appeals to a wide variety of people. i am part of the amount that discourages this practice of drawn porn and say "if u wanna get ur jollies off, pay the extra $$'s and get the real chicks"

Meh, I guess, but that still does not answer the question specifically: is it a trend in human nature to look at one then the other and viola. Hell dude, I have, when browsing for a flintstones picture for my cousin on google, a drawn porn version of Wilma blowing Barney and Fred f-ing Betty... wtf is that? Then you see that Sailor moon shit, WOW, you basically can't even search for that without returning it. Tifa from FFVII another prime example, put Tifa in your search engine people. What is it that makes people enjoy this? It cant just be cost effective, because people actually pay for this shit in some form or another for professionally done hentai or cartoon porn, and then it is either ripped or leaked to the public in some form or another, especially with doujinishi.
What about that girl from Cowboy Bebop... or most other characters in animes, they basically entice such feelings to pervs so that they will go out there and become obsessed with them and thus spend more time on the series.

they make games and shows with drawn "fantasy women" hoping that someone will make hentai out of them and then their shows will sell. look at doa. anyone who buys that doesnt just buy that for the fighting lol.

thats sad it really is but people in the industry have no original ideas to turn to so they go back to the one thing they know works: sex. i think it is a pattern..sort of. for awhile you wont really see anything but then suddenly its everywhere...*shrugs*
