I have heard rumors of something relating to thundercats for a while now, this one is official..no live action movie as of yet, but a new series for cartoon network. This isn't always good news but i think cartoon network has learned a lot from the presentation of clone wars...this is from a press release due out tomorrow apparently or someone fucked up the date

Ooooooooo, interesting... should be alright

Did you know the original ThunderCats opening was animated by Miyazaki and other members of the soon-to-be Ghibli Studios? Obviously not so much for the rest of the show which is abysmally poorer looking in comparison, but we loved it all the same (lol) and to be honest I couldn't tell at the time lol

I'm skeptical... these days cartoon network hasn't quite been up to par with the cartoon network of the past. I gave up on it once I saw there was reality TV on it.

At least they're not trying to do it in 3D like those weak-ass Marvel hero remakes.

"What would a good looking 3D ThunderCats look like Mini Moose?"
Well I'm glad you asked that Little Timmy! A decent 3D model of some of the ThunderCat characters might look like these -

Not that this isn't necessarily a bad thing. There are niche audiences who want to see these things and good for em.

Movies generally do better in remakes... LOTR was remade like 10 times (most of them were animated), star trek had like the highest gross of 2009 or something. now i dont know about robin hood remake as i haven't seen it but i WOULD see it if i had time ya know?

But there's also the game industry the best example is Prince of Persia which in the same month released a game (which was awesome) and a movie which i heard was pretty awesome.

So the question really is, what has changed anyway? Even original ideas are sink or swim with people...\

Oh and I wouldn't mind this remake of thundercats I thought that was a pretty cool show back in the day even though i didn't watch it religiously.

spires right, and they are learning what to do and what not to do as far as remakes, game and comic movies go

i hear good things about the karate kid movie coming out

Also look at Sherlock Holmes a brilliant example of a movie that was waiting for a remake. Now some will argue (fairly well) that the remake sucked but my experience with it was...

Spoilers

half way through the movie I was thinking to myself wtf is with this magic nonsense where is the classic holmes... i was already turning in my seat from all the personality changes they made to the characters but then they tied it up VERY WELL at the end which made "perfect sense." In this manner they were able to court sci-fi / fantasy fans and ppl not so readily familiar with holmes as it stood (as well as setup for another sequel and REBOOT the franchise after so many years left unattended).. Reality check as well, they've been rebooting holmes now several times since TV came out, and they were rebooting it with the shortstories all the time in periodicals and radio broadcast shows.. Moving away from that media, there were tons of authors who wrote non-canon books that developed their own niche audiences.

^ For this reason I'm always slightly bemused when people point to mainstream media as if only NOW they're starting to do this when every 5-10 years it goes into a lull after a main franchise falls. Hell, look how many derivative shows came out after seinfeld ended or how many reality shows started after the first few ORIGINAL reality shows (btw fck reality tv).

This is just the world we live in... do you know how many YEARS i waited for a star wars remake (ie movies 1-3) or for a LOTR reboot, or for a new star trek?

A-Team is almost assured to be a good film... there will be some who will say it captures the "raw-win" of what a-team used to be, while others will be like "they captured it sure, then distorted it into a cg-nightmare where every five minutes there's an explosion or extended car-chase." following which, the general consensus will be... "yeah sure, that was a pretty good reboot"

Did he just mention Star Trek?

They remake Khan, and the wrath of Khan shall descend upon the producers/studio.

As far as I am concerned, Star Trek Died with Picard and Roddenberry. Fuck Janeway...seriously. Very few likable characters that season.

Data agrees, as DS9 had a black man as captain (lol)!
