From the journal of Demius-Date:Unknown
Have you ever known love? I once knew love. Love is nothing but a cruel game of life. Love is nothing. Love is just a sense of security, a "warm blanket". I once found love, and it was stripped away from me in a heartbeat. Here is my story.
Tho Demius was always in the service of his master, he never tore himself from his daily pleasures. For instance, going to his favorite bar. But one day, a day that would change his life forever, came to him.
A woman came into the bar. She didnt look beautiful, but she didn't look ugly either. She was "cute". A short blond/brown haired woman with blue eyes. She was probably in her early twenties. She ordered a drink and sat down.
Demius immediately went over to talk to her
"Hey, I haven't seen you around here often. What's your name?" asked Demius.
"Why should I tell you? I don't even know you," the woman replied.
"Please, I won't bite, I swear"
"Hmm...fine. It's Kia."
"Kia, huh? A nice name for such a nice woman."
"Yeah, it is kinda' nice, huh? Now what's your name stranger?"
"Demius"
"Hmm...I've never heard that name before. Nice though; I don't like things that are all ordinary. I like different."
"How about you go out with me tomorrow night."
"Well, you seem harmless. Alrighty, it's a date"
The next day, Demius prepared. He really didn't do much. He just put on a nice blue suit and a pair of black leather gloves. It was a little nippy out. He showed up at Kia's doorstep to find her dressed pretty simply. Jus a dress. They went out for dinner then walked home.
"Here," Kia said, holding out a rose. "It's for you. I know men usually give the woman a flower, but I don't like the ordinary, now, do I?"
"Apparently not," said Demius. "Well, this is your stop, goodnight"
"Night"
Kia went inside and Demius started home. About halfway to his house, a man grabbed him and dragged him inside of a building. The man in the wheelchair was waiting for him.
"Hello, Demius. Out for a walk are we?" asked the man in the wheelchair.
"You could say that," responded Demius.
"I hope that you aren't too tired, I have a job for you."
"What is it?"
"There is a crime syndacate's daughter that just arrived in town. We need you to take her out. They aren't exactly on my good side."
"Whatever you say, but I don't have my rifle or anything"
The man in the wheelchar snapped his fingers. A man walked out carrying a metal suitcase, a katana, and a pistol in a holster. "We have already gotten your things. You will recieve payment upon completion of mission, of course. How does 20,000 sound?"
"Good enough. I won't let you down. Where will I see her?"
"On the corner of Green and Main. Now leave."
Demius perched on a buiding, waiting for his target. Then he saw her. He was shocked. It was Kia.
A dozen things were going through his mind about what to do. After what seemed like a century of deciding, he pulled the trigger. The bullet went straight into her heart, just like the pain that was peircing his. The blood that flowed onto the sidewalk was as red as the rose that he still had in his pocket. The rose was beautiful and eminated a sense of love, as she had. Now, Demius only felt sorrow. He instantly regretted what he did and immediately went to see his "master", the man in the wheelchair. He packed away his rifle and took out his pistol and cocked it. One of those bullets in there was meant for his "master"
Demius arrived at his "master's" mansion to find him waiting for him. He went close up to the man and pointed his pistol at his skull under the cloak.
"WHY? WHY DID YOU MAKE ME DO THAT!?" asked Demius.
"I did not make you do anything," said the man in the wheelchair.
"Yes, you did. I knew that if I didn't do it that Kia and myself would be killed"
"You are right about that. To answer your first question, I did it to see how you would handle under pressure like that of you just faced. You passed. Except for the part about attempting to kill me."
Demius lowered his gun. "So, she didn't even like me?"
"No, she did like you. We just waited until you found someone that you loved and decided to test you."
"'We'? What do you mean by 'we'?"
"Me and my associates."
"But she was at least a daughter of a crime syndacate, right?"
"No, she was not. She was innocent, sent to her death by you. Why did you not leave your little calling card?"
"She didn't deserve it."
"Ah, but this proves that no one is able to escape you Demius. She did deserve it. It marks your power. There is no 'good' and 'evil' as you think. There is only power and those too weak to see it. You have seen the power. Now, please leave. Your money is on the table behind you."
Demius stood there for a long time then went and left, taking the money.
Continuation of diary entry-
I now feel no love. I only feel power.
