Prologue:

Before our time they were planning. Planning to destroy us all. By the year two thousand they took their plan into action. Destroying anything that stood against them. Now in the year two thousand-five everything was, seemingly, back to normal, even though their still out there. Waiting…waiting for the right moment to strike again, but there are some people who know of their plan. They themselves aren’t really human, nor are they demon. They are a race all of there own. They hunt down every last demon and destroy them, even the half-breads. People would say that they are human by the appearance, but appearances are often mistaken. A race all of their own that have a mysterious past to go with, but once these hunters meet everything will end for every last demon left on earth.

Chapter one: Ariana Thompson

She was like a shadow disappearing into the night. Like a cat stalking it’s pray. Twenty-year-old Ariana Thompson, the demon huntress. For her age she looked younger. Seventeen perhaps. Her brilliant crystal blue eyes made everyone just get lost in them. People would say that her eyes told so much about her painful past. Ariana’s reddish, mid back, wavy hair waved through the midnight wind with some silver highlights here and there. She wore her usual demon hunter clothes. Black lather jeans with a belt, a black tube top, and a black lather jacket with white embroiled inside concealing her two pistols in there holsters. Ariana’s favorite weapon though was concealed in her jacket sleeves. Two silver sirs. She had always preferred the casual way of using blades instead of guns. Every now and then she would surprise her enemy by all the different knives hiding everywhere on her, even in her red combat boots hid a blade that come out from the back and the front. Her personality was once kind and sweet. A person who was willing to help in a second, but on her fifteenth birthday everything changed for the so-called angel. It was the first time the demons ever showed up. Murders were happening all over the globe and unfortunately in Araina’s own home. Both of her parents were murdered viscously before her, and her older brother Aaron’s eyes. Over the years the siblings had taught themselves to defend and attack. When Ariana was nineteen she was more then a mastered martial artist she became a demon hunter. This happened the day her brother had sacrificed his life for her own. Deep in her heart she felt that half of it was her fault. For she wasn’t watching her back at the time. Now the once kind soul is half emotionless, and more of a stubborn ‘does it look like I care?’ type girl. “ I’ve lost everything that means something to me, so why should I care about others?” Ariana would often tell herself. All she cared for now was getting those good for nothing demons off the planet and back to that hellhole where they belong. “ My name is Ariana Thompson, and I’m sending you back. One way or another.”

Chapter two: Shade

If there were a word to describe a person who was a killer, yet a good guy at the same time Shade would take the gold. For Shade being a demon hunter he was defiantly one to question. Being the half vampire that he is it’s hard to know if he’s good or just pretending to be. His red eyes always showed some type of evil that it made you want to curl up in fear. However he was a threat to demons. Many times they questioned ‘how could he betray his own kind?’ He would reply with a simple head slice. His midnight black hair was sleeked back, which made him, look like Dracula in away. His clothes made him seem like a normal civilian. He wore dark blue jeans, a black metallic shirt, but the black trench coat and katana sticking out of it made him a obvious demon hunter. His fangs always had an effect on people even some demon hunters. They were intimidating with his evil like grin. Shade had never agreed with attacking and killing innocent people. The only time he had killed a human was a couple years back. When the demons first appeared. The human had been working for many demons. Tracking down hunters so they could surprise attack them. It was the only time he had killed a human….the only time. Shade had once found himself helping a demon, but this demon was unlike the others. He was actually helping people. Saving them from a death so terrible you would remember the pain even in death.

“ Humans can be the most annoying thing alive, but that doesn’t mean you have to kill them.” Shade told every demon he killed.

“ How can you help them? How can you be a demon hunter and betray us all?” One demon asked him once. He replied with a simple statement. “ It’s simple really. I’m not like you.” With that said he sliced the mutated demon in half.

Shade had never shown emotion to anyone. Sure there were times when he was concerned for another, but he never showed it. Not to anyone. Not even to the people who used to be close to him.

“ Emotions are for weakling, and I am no weakling.”

Chapter three Alexandra Cole

Happy-go-lucky. That’s the only words that truly describe Alexandra Cole. Despite the fact of her being a really good demon hunter, her younger age seems to break in from time to time. She was ten when the demons first came and killed everyone while she was in school. Alexandra and her friends were playing a simple game of truth or dare when she see the most ugliest thing in her life! Beside the fact that it was over ten feet tall, it had the most outrageous red eyes and mutated skin. All three of her friends were murdered and all she could do was watch from a high tree. Now at the age of fifteen she was still, somewhat, that ten-year-old girl. A huge sweet grin plastered on her tanned face. Her blonde shoulder length hair was put up in a messy bun, and her green eyes showed nothing but happiness. Most people thought it was slightly weird, but enjoyed to see a good smile. Her red skirt blew side to side in the cool wind, and she hugged her dark blue jacket close to her with her light blue tank top underneath. Most demons had underestimated her by her peppiness, but they all met with a painful death.

“I may be one preppy blonde, but there is no way I’m letting you ugly things win!” Her young voice would scream at the every time she was underestimated.

“ Hahaha score!” she laughed as the demon fell to the floor in a pool of it’s own blood dead.

She had met a certain demon hunter once, but never got a good look at him. The only thing he told her before he left was that her peppiness would get her killed someday.

‘ Hmph what does he know. Yeah maybe he’s lost some loved ones too, but what’s life if you don’t live a little. Even if were caught in a war.’ She thought as she turned down a dark alley.

“ So I’m fifteen and preppy. I wouldn’t underestimate me…or you’ll end up just like all the others.” Her sweet grin turned into a smirk as she took out a dagger and threw it at an awaiting demon.

Chapter four: Drake Garcia

Young, yet dangerous. That was how you would describe twenty-one year-old Drake Garcia. Of course he wasn’t really that young, but his laziness seemed to agree other wise.

‘ So I’m twenty-one and there are demons out to kill people, and here I am taking a little nap. The city can wait a half an hour for me.’ He often thought before drifting to sleep on his lather coach.

His eyes were unlike any anyone had seen before. They were yellow with a hint of a bluish-green. His spiked black hair with his pale skin almost said Goth if it weren’t for all the green and black he was wearing. Drake had lost his parent at a young age, but not by demons. A simple car accident. However, Drake had always thought that this ‘accident’ was planned somehow. It didn’t seem like an accident on tape.

Yes Drake is lazy, but he is a demon hunter. When the time comes he’s nothing but serious. His preferred weapons are different types of computer gadgets, and his twin blades. He’s not really the computer nerd, but the gadgets seem to come in handy whenever he needs to escape an explosion. Another thing is bombs!

“ I love the sound of an explosion in the morning!” Drake would always say after blowing up a building before sunrise.

Lazy, yet useful. The one you would go to if you wanted a demon dead…late anyway.

“ I’ll sleep then I’ll kill that demon.”

ok the last chapters were supose to be short cause it's just intorductions. Nows the real story!

Chapter Five: One meeting down two to go.....or not

Ariana gazed up at the strangely tall building with a blank expression. The word was that a certain person had been ordering demons to kill off any human that was just needed to die, but Ariana felt that this person isn’t who he says he is. A few days prior to today a demon hunter had been attacked from behind and were killed. Ariana took the hair tie out of her hair and let if fall down her back as she walked inside the pitch-black building. A man who appeared to be human walked out of one of the rooms. As soon as he saw her he began cursing at her in some language. Ariana smirked and crossed her arms pulling two guns out of her lather jacket, and fired at him. As soon as he fell dead he took his real forum...a demon. " One down...a heck of a lot more to go." She stated as she put her guns away and started to walk out of the building.
True the head leader of the building is on the top floor, but in her mind ‘ why take the elevator when you can take an even better way?’ Ariana was no show off, but she enjoyed having some fun before a fight with a demon. As soon as she was outside she spotted many guards. One of them however, had all ready spotted her. She slowly walked over to him and stayed hidden in the shadows. “ How’s everything going so far?” Adriana asked him just above a whisper. “ Pretty good. No one suspects a thing Ari, so do your thing fast before the demons catch on to you.” A deep husky voice replied. “ I’m on it” She replied with a nod and quickly made her way back to the building. Soon she was in the elevator heading to the top floor. Ariana looked up at the speaker that was playing the most annoying elevator music. She took out her gun and shot it. “ Ariana your there to get rid of headman not the elevator speaker.” The deep voice told her through the communicator on the inside of her jacket. “ I know what I’m here for John.” She replied with a smirk. “ Then stop making a scene in there. You lucky there are no cameras.” She gave a small chuckle before the door opened. “ I was expecting you demon huntress.” Araina walked through the open door and pulled out her sirs. “ So demon if you were expecting me then you should know my question.” The man sitting at a desk with the back of his chair facing her laughed loudly. “ Demon?” he turned his chair to reveal that he was human! Ariana held a look of surprise on her face. “ You’re helping THEM?” She said, emotionlessly. “ Yeah, and?” he asked. Them man had to be in his late thirties. He had a day’s growth of a beard, and wore a plain white dress suit. His chocolate brown eyes seemed to pierce her soul.

“ What’s the point in helping them?”

“ Simple they won’t kill me.”

Ariana laughed at his comment. “ They won’t kill you? Ha don’t make me laugh. As soon as they’re done with you they will kill you. You’ll think they’ll spare a human when their plan is to destroy every human alive?” he glared at her and clenched his teeth together.

“ That’s not what they told me. What about you demon hunter? You won’t live through this. What’s the point in fighting them?”

“ they took something from me and now I’m taking everything from them!” her anger began to rise and she knew that if he pressed her further he was done for…but isn’t he all ready. She grinned slightly.

“ So demon hunter, you’re here to kill me no? Then what’s holding you back?” he asked taking a sip of some wine.

“ Your going to tell me how you found out about the whereabouts of that demon hunter that was killed two days ago, and how to find the leader of all these no good demons.”

He raised an eyebrow at her. “ So you want to go after him huh? Well sorry missy, but you don’t want to do that..alone that is.” Ariana glared and advanced on him quickly, holding one of her sirs to his neck.

“ Your going to tell me whether you like it or not.” She said, through clenched teeth.

“ Your going to kill me either way so why should I?”

“ Cause if you do tell me I’ll let you live. I’ll let the demons take care of you instead, but only if you tell me.”

The man looked at her and finally after a long silence he nodded. “ First take your weapon off me.” Ariana rolled her eyes and pulled her blade back. “ You’ll find him in Death city. The place is crawling with demons, and you’ll find him at the lowest part of the city.”

“ Death city? How ironic.” Ariana put her sirs back in her jacket and started to leave. “ Later pal, and thanks for being so helpful.” She stated sarcastically. The man grinned and pulled out a knife. “ No thank you Demon huntress Ariana. You’ve made my job a lot easier.” The knife went soaring at her, but she quickly turned around and caught it in her hand. “ I said I would let the demons take care of you but- before anything was done a gun shot was fired from behind Ariana and the man fell back dead. “ I also said I wouldn’t kill you. Never said anyone else wouldn’t.” She finished and turned around expecting to see her ‘friend’ John, but was face to face with a man that looked to be a few years older then her with vampire like fangs. She took a step back and her sirs slid out the sleeves of her jacket and into her hands.

“ Chill girl. I’m a demon hunter like you.” He said, as his voice was more felt then heard.

“ Oh yeah.” Ariana said as she lowered her sirs a bit. “ And you are?”

“ The names Shade, and you would be Ariana right?” he noticed the questioning look on her face and replied smoothly “ I heard it from that guy.” Pointing to the, now, dead man.

“ Shade huh? I’ve heard of you. The vampire like human that hunts down demons right?” He nodded. “ That would be me. So I take it your heading to death city. You shouldn’t go alone.” Ariana smirked and took out her gun, which appeared to be aimed at him, but as soon as she fired a piercing scream filled their ears and a demon behind shade fell dead. “You can come only if you don’t slow me down Shade.” She walked around him and headed for the elevator. “ By the way call me Ari.” Shade whistled as he looked at the dead demon. “ For a girl you sure know what your doing.” He stated following her into the elevator. “ So tell me Ari what made you become a demon hunter?” He leaned against a wall and started at the blown speaker and looked at her with a raised eyebrow. “ And don’t tell me the speaker was a demon.” He continued with a smirk. She crossed her arms. “ No I just hate that music, and as to why I’m a demon hunter non of your business.” She looked away from him. “ That was harsh, Ari,” came John’s hushed voice. “Can-it, Eavesdropper.” She whispered to John through the communicator. Shade looked at her through his dark sunglasses. “ I take it you’ve lost someone….no you lost your whole family right? The last one was resent no?” Ariana uncrossed her arms and looked at him in shock. “ How do you know that?” He simply shrugged. “ A guess.” What she didn’t know is that Shade’s been around long enough to know what happens. Her family was well known and it wasn’t hard to find out about her brother either. This girl was strange to him. She seemed strong not to mention stubborn, but there was something very secretive about this girl.

Shade was an interesting character to Ariana. Sure she liked his attitude, but she couldn’t figure out if she could trust him. The last half demon she trusted almost killed her, but then again he’s not half demon. He’s half vampire. With that in thought she smirked and looked him in the eye. “ By the way if you get hungry don’t touch me don’t even come close to me.” She said half jokingly. He grinned. “ Oh don’t worry. I only drink the blood of evil.” She shook her head slightly. “ That’s good to know. So what about you Shade? Why are you a demon hunter?” Again silence. “ I don’t agree with what the demons do. True most demons do think of me as a betrayer for killing them, but hey the human and vampire side of me says ‘ I don’t care if I am like you I’m not helping you hurt people.” Ariana nodded in approval of his answer.

“ So the demons criticize you then?” She asked feeling slightly sorry for him, but immediately pushed the feeling aside. He only nodded. The rest of the way down the elevator was silence, but a comfortable one. One thing was for certain though both hunters were thinking the exact same thing. This journey is going to be a lot different now.

Unbeknownst to them a dark shape watched as the two hunters emerged from the building. “ One meeting down two to go.” The dark voice whispered on the wind. Soon when the hunters were in a safe distance the building exploded and crumbled to the ground. The shape smirked slightly. “ Or not.”

Ariana and Shade looked back in surprise. “ Did you set a bomb?” Ariana asked Shade with some anger in her voice. “ No I thought you did.” He replied with the same tone.

“ Wahoo! Now that is what I call a good explosion” the guy took a deep breath. “ Ahh I love the sound of an explosion in the night.” The two hunters shook their heads at the new comer and made they way toward him.

Chapter six: Stubborn and emotionless meet lazy and preppy!

Drake had just blown up the ‘demons hang out’ building with satisfaction. “ Now who’s lazy now?” He asked with sarcasm. “ Yeah! That’s how it’s done there you little “ Hey sorry to interrupt your victor speck to the dead demons, but you’re the one who blew this up?” Ariana asked while looking at Drake with a you-mean-the-guy-can-kill-demons look. He looked at her and grinned. “ Believe it. I just love blowing things up. Especially when demons are in it. I guess that why I’m a demon hunter. Man I’m tired…and hungry too.” Ariana and Shade’s eyes grew wide. ‘ You mean this crazy guy is a demon hunter?’ Both of them questioned giving each other confusing glanced. “ Uh, you’re a demon hunter, but how old are you?” Shade asked sort of afraid of his answer. “ Twenty-one. Why?” Both Shade and Ariana’s faces went blank. ‘ WHAT!’ Both of them thought. “Why do you two looked so shocked? You don’t look older then me so why are you shocked?” he stated pointing to Ariana. “ Uh yeah well…you don’t seem like your twenty-one.”

“ Yeah I know. I seem older huh?”

“ More like younger.” Shade replied, as held his blank look.

“ What do you mean younger? I just blew up a building!”

“ And started talking to the demons when they’re all ready dead.” Ariana finished for him.

“ I take it your both demon hunters too.” He said, wanting to change the subject.

“ Actually we are. I’m Ariana and this is Shade.” “ Well I’m Drake so where are you two heading anyway?” “ Death city.” Shade replied flatly. Drake looked at Shade and studied him a bit. “ Man say it with me sunlight.” Ariana sniffled a laugh at this. ‘ This guy might not be to bad to have around.’ She thought. “Were going to Death city to track down this so called ‘king’ of the demons.”

Drake looked at Ariana and studied her. “ A chick tracking down the leader huh? Interesting. Sounds good, but why are you telling me?” She sighed slightly annoyed that he didn’t catch her drift. “ I want you to come with us.” “ What! Are you kidding me?” Shade asked more the angry. “ Well since sunshine here doesn’t want me to the sure why not.” “ Sunshine?” Shade’s eye twitched in annoyance. “ Your lucky you’re a demon hunter.” “ Hehehe you guys are funny.” A high-pitched voice surrounded them. “ Who’s there?” Shade called out. Drake just shrugged. “ Oh don’t worry about it, it’s only Alexandra, or Alex for short.” A girl came out of the shadows. “ Hey sorry I’m late Drake had a demon stalking me.” Ariana and Shade’s eye twitched all ready thinking that she is a demon hunter. ‘ Oh no a prep and some lazy guy following us? I can stand lazy, but why preppy too?’ Ari closed her eyes and sighed. ‘ I hate this.’ Was all Shade was thinking before he turned his back. “ Ariana let’s leave. These two don’t have to come with us.” “ Hey face it Sunshine you need us.” “ Ha Ha Sunshine that’s funny, but why do you call him-wow hey dude do you live under a rock or something? You really need to see Dr. Sun.” Alex stated nodding her head.

Ariana looked at Alex for a moment before asking “ Alexandra right? You can’t be over sixteen.” “ Just call me Alex, and yup I’m fifteen!” Ari shook her head.’ Someone so young fighting demons. Those rotten demons must have done something to her.’ She thought as the two continued to pick on Shade.

“ All right! You two can come, but only if you keep your mouths shut about the sun!” he yelled turning to face them. Alex and Drake just laughed. “ All right all right pale boy will be quiet.”

“ Hey explosion nerd, and prep shut it! You Shade just calm down and live with it. The more demon hunters we have the better. Were going to be facing the leader here, not some average walk in the park demon.” Ariana stated flatly. All three were shocked by her minor outburst. Drake smirked. “ I like you all ready! Anyone who has a comeback for three people at once is okay in my book.” Alex nodded her head vigorously. “ Yep Yep! You rock! What’s your and sunshine’s names anyway?” Ariana held Shade back before he could attack her, or worse bite her.

“ My name SHADE not sunshine, and this here ‘cool chick’ is Ariana.” Ari rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. ‘ Jeez it’s like I’m a mom keeping her three kids in line!’ She thought slightly angered. “ Well SHADE not Sunshine, and Ariana it’s nice to meet you fellow demon hunters! And it’s good to meet a fellow demon huntress.” Shade had a blank look and Ariana forced a smile. “ Uh yeah. Likewise Alex. So let’s get going. I feel like some demons are on their way. The sooner we get to Death city the sooner all of this will end.” Three looked at her and nodded. “ That’s true. Come on I have a ride.” They all followed Drake only to find a beautiful silver skyline. Ariana whistled and slid over the hood of the car. “ Shotgun I’m driving!” “ Hey it’s my car!”

“ And I know how to get to Death city so fork over the keys.” Drake sighed in defeat and threw the keys to her. As soon as everyone was in the car and buckled down Ariana roared the engine.

“ For someone who’s lazy you sure have a great car!” But the only answer Alex received was a loud snore. They all looked at Shade and laughed. “ I can’t believe this!” Shade muttered to himself.

“ Cheer up….Sunshine.” Ariana said with a smirk. He only glared daggers at her, and if looks could kill she would have died ten times. Racing down the streets they made their way to Death city unaware of the many group of demons following suit.

At first the trip seemed to go great, but everything was soon different as Shade, and Ariana went back to their normal attitudes. That may change through time cause now Stubborn and emotionless has just met preppy and lazy. Yeah a great combination for all of them. Most of the time Alex had been bothering Ariana most of the time trying to do something with her hair and Shade found the perfect moment to annoy Drake and pushed him out of the car as Ari slowed down witch he got hit for later. Many people would think of them as siblings, but the again they all looked very different. This trip just got a lot harder for the stubborn and emotionless pair. Both had never really laughed or smiled much since the demons first attack, and they weren’t ready to start now. No matter how much at times they wanted to. Ariana rolled down the windows as the sun started to rise. Many purples, pinks, and oranges started show and for once Ari did smile. It was the only thing that made her smile. The only thing that didn’t change in her life was a sunset. Ariana rolled her eyes as drake began to talk in his sleep. “ Monkey has my pizza! Back evil demon! Attack my pizza minions! Mwahahahaha!” At that she looked at him with a who-spiked-his-soda look in her eyes. “ He’s always like that Ari don’t worry.” Alex said through a yawn. “ You want me to drive you should try to rest. “ No. Besides your not even old enough for your license.” She stated sort of coldly. Alex sighed. ‘It’s going to be hard to get Shade and Ari to crack. Oh well I’m sure I can do it!’ She thought smiling brightly. “ Whatever you say. MOM.” Ari sighed and shook her head. “ Now I’m a soccer mom.” She mumbled softly.
