I personally didn't want to read through that "new xbox" thread.

I have one, and tons of people I know have them. (I shouldn't say I know them.. I talk to them daily on www.nexopia.com (http://www.nexopia.com/) )

If you are hearing about them breaking, igniting, overheating, or anything like that.. Its not true..

3-5% of them are experiencing problems, but that is to be expected, and is QUITE good compared to the PS2 launch (about 20% of the PS2s had major problems).

Most of those 3-5% of problems are caused by sheer stupidity. Moving the 360 around while it is operating will "etch" the discs, you may have heard about this. But really, that can all be prevented by simply not moving the freaking thing while its on! (come on, common sense people!!)

The launch lineup of games isn't necessarily STUNNING. There are definitely some great games already though.

I'm pretty sure they just wanted to launch before Christmas. In January and February, several big, great games are coming out.

I've spent hours simply playing the ARCADE GAMES on it. Watching the downloadable content, playing the downloadable demos.

It is definitely a good buy.

Wireless controllers, wonderful.

I can be playing from my desk, I don't have to worry about wires everywhere and people tripping. I don't have to worry about someone sitting in a chair thats a few feet too far away or whatever..

Its just wonderful.

Being able to turn it on and off with a touch of a button of the controller.. Wonderful..

I mean, I'll admit.. I'm a lazy guy. But still, the convenience of having the xbox 360 wherever I want, not have to worry about being able to reach it to turn it on.. yknow.. anyone would love that.

All in all, its a great system.

Sony is the king of hype.. They will show completely pre-rendered stuff and claim it is real, and the launch won't be near the quality (albeit, I'm sure the PS3 will be great, just probably not QUITE as good as they are trying to make it seem).

Anyways, if you are kind of thinking "meh, nothing really looks that good, the PS3 looks better, all the bugs with the 360 are terrible, I don't really like any of the games, etc". Don't worry, if you buy it, you'll be happy.

Any questions about it, I'd be more than glad to answer.

if u played the new xbox is it worth buying? cause its pretty expensive compared to the old systems

Personally I'm going to wait on all the new systems and see which has the game lineup that appeals to me most... and as a bonus, the prices will be down by then. But then again I'm mostly a PC gamer, if you really love XBox wait-and-see might not be such an obvious choice.

xbox is gonna be the worst system cuz it came out too early. ps3 or revolutions gonna be way better and probly cheaper. the only thing xbox is doing rite is getting halo 3 to come out on the day ps3 comes out.

The XBOX was rush out too quickly to get it out before christmas for sales. With that, they didnt properly test the system and it has TONS of bugs and stuff. I never really intended to buy one though. I think I will wait for the PS3.

xbox 360 is the way togo for me..they have opted to keep it easier for developers to make games for the box..unlike ps2, the ps3 has gone the other way, cos of the new technology n stuf yeh?

but i've also read alotta buggy stories about 360 upon release..but hopefully when it ships to australia they be all fix-ed yeh?

XD I'm getting one but I really like Nintendo....

Alister
Dec 20th, 2005, 01:33 AM
Mitz, you may be in luck..

The Nintendo Revolution is supposedly going to be EXTREMELY cheap compared to the xbox 360 and the PS3 (it is supposedly going to be about 100-150 US dollars, whereas the xbox 360 is 300 US, and the PS3 might possibly be DOUBLE that).

So you may get both!

mitzilla
Dec 20th, 2005, 01:39 AM
Yeah! That's what I'm talking about. I'm getting the X box soon and the Nintendo whenever it decides to come out and surprise me with it's awesomeness. Haven't really heard too much about it but its the bomb.

Alister
Dec 20th, 2005, 01:44 AM
Thats definitely a good choice.

In my opinion, its the best of both worlds..

Xbox 360 (with xbox live, mind you) you get great graphics, great games, big variety of games, online play so you don't get bored of single player or whatever..

And Nintendo Revolution, all the classic games you love by Nintendo, plus new and innovative games too! xD

The 360 looks like a xbox with some graphical improvement, i don't see the big jump in graphics i saw with the PS and PS2 plus the games play the same as the current consoles, going to wait for the PS3 and revolution

Alister
Dec 22nd, 2005, 03:18 PM
The reason for that is simple.

First there was Pong sort of games, very very simple, very very basic..

Then, came games like mario.. The 2D games.. on the NES and the SNES

Then came the PS and the N64, which stunned us with their, basic, but 3D graphics.

Then came the PS2 and the XBox, the only thing left to improve on really was the graphics, so they improved on them a lot. At the PS2 launch, a lot of the PS2 games actually looked WORSE than the at-that-time current PS1 games.

This is because the PS2 had new technology, so developers weren't really used to it yet.

The Xbox 360 developers need time to get a feel for the 3 processor cores, etc, so the launch games, although they do look a lot better than the current xbox games, you can't see THAT much of a jump (mind you, on an HDTV the graphics look worlds better).

By the time the PS3 launches, Sony developers will still be n00bz to the system, and xbox 360 developers will be pumping out great games.

The launch lineup was weak for the 360, I will admit.. But in January and February, thats when the "next gen" really begins.

Dec 22nd, 2005, 09:57 PM
The 360 is definitely looking attractive, but they're way overpricing it. (Hell, it's Microsoft. Nothing new.) I can't spend that kind of money on a console.

pmaster4
Dec 22nd, 2005, 10:15 PM
You say the developers need time but i remember there was Rogue Squadron For NGC that had excellent graphics and it was a launch title. But i am sure the graphics will get better since MS said it is like 100x more powerful that the original xbox. They probablyy just rushed the games to make launch, there are still alot of excellent games for this generation of across all systems that i havn't played, i going to wait and c what happens

I make it a big deal of mine not to touch microsux consols unless i need to school an X head at halo (i dont own a xbox but i take names in halo) that and the 360s are aready starting to break down lol.

pmaster4
Dec 22nd, 2005, 11:37 PM
i think alot of the units are breaking down bexause MS rushed to launch the system, where they that afraid of the PS3 or rev???

Alister
Dec 22nd, 2005, 11:40 PM
Damnit.. makin me do this..

It is only really the Core systems that are breaking down a bit.

And mainly it is because of people leaving them on for like a week and playing them solid for days.

There is a 3-5% fault rate on the Xbox 360s, compare that to the PS2 launch, in which there was a 20% fault rate, and Microsoft is doing damn good, even if it WAS a rush job.

Most of the problems are easily preventable.

Don't play it for more than 6 hours at a time (give it an hour or so break).

Don't move it while its on.

Keep it (and the power supply) off of the ground.

Keep them both in a place with good airflow.

The Xbox 360 has a 3-5% error (bug) rate.

Compare that to the PS2's 20%, that means that the 360 is doing very well. The people who aren't having problems are playing their 360s, not posting about it on message boards, so all you hear about are the 3-5% of people that have problems or are like you and are just plain retarded..

The PS3 will likely not launch in Spring, and if it does, it will be in Japan in Spring, and it would be released sometime around Fall of 2006.

yay i just bought my 360 last friday...and i must say it is quite intresting

anyhow, when we first bought it, i took it into our video game area upstairs and every five min it would either freeze or come up with a screen saying the disc was from the wrong region. anyhow i took it downstairs one day to play it on my big screen, and it didnt freeze or do anything once. its quite werid o_O

but in the end, i must say the 360 is worth to buy. its a lot of fun, but im still in the process of setting up xbox live....im sure itll be more fun then xD

Might be something with ventilation/heat in the first room you put it in.

Region though? Where are you from? And what does it say on the front of your game box things? (NTSC or PAL)
