80s/90s Cartoons vs. Current Anime

As much as i like anime, and detest many of the current day cartoons.

I still think Transformers > All

(original transformers of course, not those blasted remakes with all of them posing after transforming, and saying idiotic attack names before firing their guns)

GI Joe, Dungeons and Dragons, Centurions...

I think that one difference was that the teams in these cartoons were made up of sensible characters. Anime characters rarely seem to be sensible people.

On the other side, we have characters like Naruto(a rather sad Goku rip-off, and completely annoying of late)

Of course, Bleach is cool. And i really liked Hikaru no Go(should fall in some other category :) )

Still... on the whole, i'd give it to the top 80s cartoons, and to stuff like The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest, in the 90s(that show died far too early)

Edit: Decided to make it all anime, and not just current day stuff.

Yes senseable but they wernt so human they really didnt seam like the ppl that would live right next to you just a little too perfect .

i used to watch the original transformers religiously along with dragonballz and tenchi muyo ahh those were the days overall ever since i was an immature child ive liked pokemon, digimon type stuff so anime natually overrules ANYTHING besides hip hop for me

i like anime for its story plots. its way better than those in the 80s and 90s except for some like The Real Adventure of Jonny Quest. (i on a chiffy of one ep where a female enter Jonny's childhood friend and a male ghost enter Jonny) ;p

as much as i liked 80's-90's toons i certainly enjoy more watching todays anime.

like takitaki said, 80's-90's cartoons were wonderful, but with the lack of them being on TV much, and me being young (heck, I wasn't even around in the 80's), I have to say that I find myself watching and enjoying anime more than old toons.

Is this the one where they were on the deserted island?? This was around 5 years ago xD but when u look back to these cartoons don't u find they graphics kinda chilldish?? Maybe i'm getting too old x_X

not sure all i remember is that female ghost jumping into the ocean + disappear also the male ghost was 1st seen at a swamp by Jonny

This spans around 2 episode xD i remembered put as spoiler in case any1 watching it now to kill time or something. Now it's still shown on strange time slots xD

They on the deserted go to a house. This was where the ghost couple used to stay. Then Jonn was the 1st 1 who saw tthe female ghost. He saw her jumping into the sea and tried to help her. He also jump down but cannot find the ghost. Then after a which they found out they were the late owners of the island. (Forgot what reason they died) The last part is the guy and girl ghost being together then they 2 jump into the sea together. Then after they jump the fog clear and the people jonny was with saved them from the water.

I watch anime and eightys ninetys toons for completely different reasons!
...not really, but I did watch at two very different times of life.
Like...I would certainly prefer say...trigun now to talespin or darkwing duck now, but at the time talespin and darkwing duck were on my answer would not have been the same.

except for teen titans and captain planet. they go everywhere, to be watched at any time.

I don't especially like old anime...only the current anime do I like. It's the different drawing styles...

Old cartoons, some of them are good. Like, the old disney ones and whatever. But, other than that, I can't really say I like old or know old cartoons that well.

i liked the old macross, transformers. current animes r getting better with the new technology, so i say new ones

I still like my old cartoons. I stick to the classics, I watch anime once in a while when I feel in the mood. But I prefer cartoons for some reason. :silly:

Anime is way better, more advanced..you know. Also get on with the flow people 80's and 90's cartoon are getting a bit old by now. (my opinion, no offense to anyone.)

I remeber I use to really be into JEM...the cartoon...that was ages ago...I must say that the anime is so much better...however I think anime was made for a different audience. Many of the things that anime includes would go over the heads of the american cartoon crowd
