22XX, well it's in MegaMan X's time...
Part 1:
Plenty after Lumine was defeated and all that stuff, X and his gang fought small battles, being a patrolman and keeping havoc at a low level. But, one cold night, X was surprised to see a hooded thief on the lower level of an old Reploid development center.
"Hey, you! What are you doing?!?!" cried X. There was no answer, but a blue sheet of graph paper fell out of his bag.
"It's a blueprint... I'm sending this to Alia..." *pause* "Alia, I'm sending something to you... tell me what it is." said X.
"It's a blueprint" replied Alia.
"I KNOW IT'S A BLUEPRINT! But what is it a blueprint of?"
"Looks like a blueprint of a death-defying reploid... A buster in each hand, a saber slot, rockets in the back... but the style of this
reploid seems just like you X."
"It reads 'Gridlock' on the top. Check if you have any info about Gridlock."
5 minutes later, X came back to base. Alia examined the blueprint and researched Gridlock. She was on a message with Alvin, a ex-soldier in space.
"Gridlock is a very deadly group of Reploids... Reploids gone Maverick. They plan on destroying all grids in space, then they can take over Earth and the Moon. Good thing you asked, we need some assistance on defeating Gridlock, they're planning on something huge now; we need X, Axl, and Zero!"
All three S-class Maverick Hunters agreed.
