Which graphics card would you buy for your computers?

I would go with Nvidia because they have easy model numbers such as geforce 6600 instead of crazy numbers like x800 and stuff.

Nividia geForce
cheap and good quality

How are ATI's numbers 'crazy'?

They got to "Radeon 9800" and "All-in-Wonder 9800" and they couldn't very well go to "Radeon 10,000" from there and keep going, so they made the "x" series.

I'd personally prefer ATI. For some reason it seems like one side of computers is AMD/nVidia, and the other side is Intel/ATI.

I was born and raised on intel/ati, so I'll stick with that.

Just for some random info.. They are about the same in terms of quality and power.

I know ATI couldnt call their new cards 10,000
but it just seems that it gets confusing when i at the game requirements.

Some of the OEM computers sport the ATI Radeon X200 but no games state that model number as a supported graphics card.

ati is a better choice for me. both of them have an approximately equal footing, but it's just a matter of my personal taste, seeing that NVIDIA is more recent. i'm in the ATI generation. also i'm used to classifying things with letters and numbers

In my opinion, Right now nvidia is better (i read a lots of bechmark on the web). Almost all of the result score of nvidia is better than ATi both on AMD and Intel. And mainboard that support Sli is cheaper than those that support Crossfire. nvidia Go!

Nvidia for me too. I used to like ATI, but they are always one step behind Nvidia in performance. Such as ATIs HD3870X2 and Nvidia's 9800GX2.

I thought of getting a HD2900XT but instead I got 512mb 8800GTS which pwns it in any way.

Nvidia even though I have been using ATI for the past years, Currently using ATI Mobility™ Radeon® HD 2400XT which I think is 1 level below the GForce 8 series

Oh god Nvidia 280 GTX is out. The new daddy of cards. ATI can't save it's ass now. (Unless they come up with an equivalent GPU chipset).

shit man wiht all this talk.... well apparently i would go for Nvidia
due to its popularity.....
if it wasnt so popularly used.... it wouldnt be a good brand or the product wouldnt be lame
i never used a ATI

I never used a ATI

Same here, but Nvidia was always one step ahead of ATI.

Shouldn't this be in the Technology Section?

ACTUALLY

ATI are always one step of nvidia
they are always first to use SMALLER CHIPS, FASTER GDDR,

its cause of the money problems they had epic fails with the 3850 and the other cards,

but now the 4850 and the price range is seiously kicking butt, i own this card and its fucking amazing.

I've been one to actually use both Nvidia and ATI

Um, ATI Fusion..GD I wish I wasn't running intel (mad)

ATI does everything Nvidia does, but they do more, branched out to a million different types(this is why the numbers can be confusing to noob...ATI are so nice they try to account for each and every gaming type (shame)), and cheaper. SLI VS. Crossfire is no challenge which will be cheaper.

Currently, both are about the same with price being different.

The one thing that I refuse to use Nvidia for...is their CP <^> I had it, had problems with it, but when I finally got ATI life was complete.

ati control panel is very good... .Its excellent, one of the factors when ever i want to buy a gfx card. Up until now ati had failed at everything else... cooling, power, price and efficiency. However now they have matched Nvidia for price and power but efficiency and cooling can still be a turn off for alot of customers.

Stock coolers suck ass for both companies. They can't seem to keep up. Temperatures are getting higher and higher even with the 55nm die chip.

Sharingan
Feb 15th, 2009, 10:23 AM
exactly... Even though they are shrining the die they arent keeping the same ratio of the law. They are techincally overclocking it to where temperature is suitable. unlike processors where multiplyers ect can be locked, gfx cards all about the raw processor power so they want to make the most buck out of the card. So they are giving such high clock speeds but arent able to cool it. now stuff like 90* on ati is normal... what the hell my nvidia 7600gt overclock ran at 50* at 100% load.

Its becoming a joke and it also increases my overall system temperature, even though i have 7 fans installed

ATI, because their control panel is better designed. Too bad my processor is now out of date, considering that I got a 4890 HD. When one is up to spec, the other is behind!

Currently ATI is still winning the market. Thanks to the failure of Nvidia's newest line.
