How do you feel about the new bill that may pass saying that illegal immigrants will be deported or sent to jail?

I just think they need to enforce it better. Don't call me racist because that has nothing to do with it. It's all legal issues. You had a chance and you went down the wrong path. Now you should pay. You shouldn't be doing illegal things anyway. People lose their jobs because of illegal immigrants.

I think it's a good descion.

By the looks of L.A and other large places they could deport a third of the city.

Would that not be a huge blow to the economy, when Tom Cruise's housekeepers are deported?

Post the link to the clip of that man rounding up all the Mexicans in his truck.

This end badly. Whenever you do wrong unto others it ends badly. I mean, they are talking about separating people from their families. Plus please, very rarely do illegals take American jobs, that would be the got damn employers fault.

Let's be serious, illegals lack the knowledge to take a decent American jobs form us.

A bulletin going around on MySpace:
More than 36,000 students from throughout Los Angeles County, California skipped classes and marched through streets and on various freeways Monday, March 27, 2006, to protest an immigration bill being debated in Congress. "We may be illegal immigrants, but we are human," Metropolitan High School senior Melania Preciado said as she waved a Mexican flag. "We deserve the same rights as everyone else, not be treated like criminals." What an ironic statement.

If we all went to Mexico... would we be treated as humans?? (Think of all your friends who have driven down to Mexico for a weekend trip and were either thrown in jail for looking at the Mexican police the wrong way, or were pulled over for no apparent reason and FORCED to pay off the Mexican police in order NOT to be thrown in jail)...

1. Try driving around as a Gringo in Mexico with no
liability insurance, and have an accident.

2. Enter MEXICO illegally - never mind immigration quotas,
visas, international law, or any of that nonsense.

3. Once there, demand that the local government provide
free medical care for you and your entire family.

4. Demand bilingual nurses and doctors.

5. Demand free bilingual local government forms,
bulletins, etc.

6. Speak only English at home and in public and insist
that your children do likewise.

7. Demand classes on American culture in the Mexican
school system.

8. Demand a local Mexican driver's license. This will
afford you other legal rights and will go far to legitimize your
unauthorized, illegal, presence in Mexico.

9. Insist that local Mexican law enforcement teach English
to all its officers.

Good luck!

It will not happen in Mexico nor any other country
in the world...except right here in the United States...

Land of those who want to take care of everyone,
except American Citizens!

These "student" protesters, haven't the slightest clue as to what the hell is really going on. They just want an excuse to leave school. What a disgrace to AMERICA, our country!

If you're going to wave a Mexican flag to support your heritage, fine... Just make sure there is an American one next to it...the land that gives to all of its immigrants, and you. If Mexico is SOOOOO great - Why leave it and come to America?

Oh and the whole thing with America treating you unfairly... there is a reason we call it ILLEGAL immigration... we can't let the whole damn world over here so stop complaining.

If you agree, pass it on.

If you don't, please go ahead and try all the above in Mexico. (I'll be sure to write to you while you're in a Mexican prison).

P.S.
One of the girls who replied to this entry made an interesting comment. Here it is:
"I always forget something important. I get all excited >:)
I was wondering what the significance of May 1st was and why they wanted it on that day. Something in the back of my head kept telling me there's a point in that day, so I did some research. Sure enough, my hunch was correct. May 1st is the most important communist holiday in history. This is why the communist party is so strongly backing this protest.
Digest that for awhile."

Ignorant.

Kaiten and Hellspire said it best.

If you're worried about illegal aliens taking your jobs you might want to be more aggresive when it comes to your education. Honestly, the reason the immigrants have the jobs they do is because they'll do anything for money. Understand this, not many people really want to sit on top of a roof in the hot Florida sun all day working - but immigrants will.

So to those who moan and complain about illegals taking out jobs: 1) Shut up, if you have to whine about it you don't even deserve the job. 2) I don't see too many illegals taking the job at the bank or at that lawfirm.

(Wow, I fell asleep writing this....)

Though, I'm fine either way. They are illegal immigrants. Unless I was misinformed they're not supposed to be here anyway.

it's not a mexican protest. fuck. it's an immigrant protest.

honestly, like FD said, they dont take jobs. people are just too fucking lazy. not even kidding, i saw it on Mind of Mencia too, but i saw it myself. two latinos selling roses nearby, and a white guy asking for money. they fucking work for they're money. so seriously shut the fuck up with that nonsense.

whatever i support the movement. it's a civil rights movement i strongly support. i owe my life to my parents. yes they crossed illegally. and i fucking owe everything to them.

people are so quick to view immigrants a whole, but they don't bother to see how personal the whole issue is.

whatever though.

This whole thing is kind of strange to me. The U.S. is sort of going against everything we stand for.

"Give me your tired, and your poor." - Statue of Liberty(it's written on there.)

Schools lost a heck of a lot of money from all the kids cuting school on protest day too.

I can understand why people want them gone. We/parents have to pay taxes for them, and that's just a "waist" of their money. It's not onlly Mexicans that are coming here, but people from all over. However, we seem to have a problem with more Mexicans coming over. Don't get me wrong, I know that they come here so they can have a better life, and too me, why should we take that away? Can't we help them to become legal?????

For once, you're absolutely right. Indeed. I was going to post that.

My views? I have some. But nope, I would rather not release them here.

I'm.. sort of stuck on this one. I guess it just comes down ethically to me. I'd feel bad about the families that managed to -make- a life here in America, then have them get separated from their families. I do agree that something should be done about the borders so more illegal immigrants can't come through, but the ones who are already in the country should be accepted. I don't think it's fair that some people have to work and wait to get a VISA while others plotted to sneak in.

My view on jobs: don't care. It's mostly the majority of people who didn't give a damn during school who complain about losing their jobs at a fast-food restaurant. If they -needed- the labor work for money, then I can spare sympathy.

It's not exactly hard to get legalized in the US. you have to have a basic middle-schoolers knowledge of the U.S.

Yeah that's what I thought was ironic. It isn't really hard to become a citizen. And even more ironic, they're using the first amendment right to peaceful assembly and speech, that only American citizens have

Under the H-W plan (those are senators names but i can't recall them) for HR4437, all those 5+ wouldn't be affected... those who have been here for less than that time should not have the benefit... you do not come here, set up shop, then call up your kids and tell them to hop the fence, it shouldn't work that way... (not saying this is your case or anything but this is what the plan does, it addresses the disparity of inflow).
Yeah, I agree.

I don't mean that illegal immigrants have jobs. I mean when someone else loses their job to them. I don't want this new bill to pass, I just want them to enforce the laws they already have a bit better.

There are many pros and cons. But at the end of the day we are just a country full of immigrants. Except of course for the natives.

We're doing this topic in English Class. If that bill passes, the wall will only be to keep out ILLEGAL immigrants, not immigrants altogether. I don't get why the government actually said that if you haven't been caught in 5+ years, then you can stay as long as they know you actually have been there 5+ years and that you have a job.

i couldn't really give a damn about immigrants, illegal or not. in my eyes history is just repeating itself over and over again. don't believe me? here's a little history lesson: potato blight, sudden burst of irish immigrants, quite a few who were illegal. irish got a really raw deal in the 20's and 30's. go further back, same issue with ex-slaves. CNN made a documentary on it, one guy said, "as long as they do right by us, they have a job." which is exactly what i say. even though my family and i moved here legally, i agree with swift on this

There are many pros and cons. But at the end of the day we are just a country full of immigrants. Except of course for the natives.

that is why this country has had great success. it's because of your cheese fondue of cultures, a great mixture clumped together, and each one working together to accentuate each others flavor (or each others characteristics).
