Are Episodic Games Great For Gamers?

Hi guys

i just want to know about how you feel about episodic games such as the upcoming Half Life 2 Episode One and Sin Episodes. I just finished Sin Episodes and feel weird after beating the game.

I got the game for 20 bucks and feel as if all the other episodes are going to be like that. It would come to 180 bucks for the 9-Episode game. The price is outrageous and not what i had in mind for a game. Hopefully they would give rebates fro the people who bought the games.

Episodic games can also be cancelled if the creators do not get enough money for the game or maybe if the company goes bankrupt or something.

helllo. About episodic games. I feel it is unneccesary for the developers to make them. Because it's the same gameplay. Ok, so diff. stories aside, what's the point of buying it when you play just the same. And yes, the development. They spent too much money and it could lead to the cancellation of the games.

There are mixed reactions to episodic games. Some will go, some will stop. Whatever reason, mybe for me it wud only be great for the games supporting it. Others, need not to look. Me, i don't like to play episodic games. I'm more into sequels, normal games and others. And besides, why play when u cn just watch a tv show. If you like SiN Episode 1, and wnna know what happens next, then buy it. It's your choice and ur choice alone.

I have to agree, episodic games are a terrible idea. Especially the dothack series for ps2. I liked the first one, then found out I have to pay 150 more dollars for the next three parts with exactly the same gameplay.

It becomes more interesting when the gameplay changes between the Episodes. As far as I am concerned, I am really fond of the "Tales" series ( Tales of Phantasia and followers ) since the universe changes and the gameplay is improved every opus

Some episodic games are pretty good. For example, Final Fantasy X & X-2

I think it depends weather the storyline is good enough to carry the series for 5 - 10 episodes and the developers improve on the gameplay mechanics
