Life the hound
Equivocal
Comes at a bound
Either to rend me
Or to befriend me
I cannot tell
The hound's intent
Till he has sprung
At my bare hand
With teeth or tongue
Meanwhile I stand
And wait for the event

The whole topic of the poem itself seemed a bit silly, I don't know, it just gives me that little hint.

Well if you analyze it, life is being compared to a hound. Not just any old dog, but a hound. a huge dog. It runs at him, either to attack (rend) him, or make friends with him. The man doesn't know what the hound will do until it comes at his bare, vulnerable hand. If it bites him, the hound is bad. if it licks him, the hound is good. Since the hound s life, do you run away from life when you see it coming? Cause you will prolong the bad (you ccant totally outrun a hound), or delay the good, or even piss the hound off and turn good into bad. And if it's bad, and you run from it, you're a coward, and the hound might run at you faster cause you're running. So he "stands" there and accepts what life has to offer.

Mm... Didn't quite get that deeper meaning, I'm not too big on poems myself, but from time to time, I see myself coming to read what you post here.

It's pretty good XD

I like thinking them out like that though. The only reason something is usually poetic is so the poet can comment/touch upon a subject and leave us to interpret it

@Avarice: really? lol where?
